There is a particular kind of hum that arrives with the summer sun. It’s the sound of long days, full calendars, and the collective rush to "make the most" of every golden hour. We find ourselves filling every gap, every weekend, every evening, every breath, with plans, gatherings, and the relentless pursuit of sunshine.
But somewhere in the midst of the heat and the busyness, a quiet voice inside often begins to whisper. It asks for a different kind of season. Not a summer of fullness, but a Summer of Spaciousness.
At Hervana Women's Wellness, we believe that true health isn’t just the absence of pain or the completion of a checklist. It is the feeling of having room to breathe. It is the ability to navigate your life from a place of grounded presence rather than a state of constant overflow. This summer, we invite you to put down the "shoulds" and step into a sanctuary of your own making, a space where you can reconnect with your body’s wisdom and find your own inner peace.
The Art of the Pause
We often treat "rest" as a reward for hard work, something to be earned after the house is clean, the emails are sent, and the kids are in bed. But what if we viewed the pause as a sacred necessity?
When we are constantly rushing, our nervous systems stay locked in a state of high alert. This chronic "fight-or-flight" mode can manifest in many ways: a tight pelvic floor, shallow breathing, digestive issues, or a mind that simply won’t stop racing. To heal, we must first learn how to find our room to breathe.
Spaciousness begins with the intentional decision to stop. It’s the five minutes spent sitting on the back porch before the day starts. It’s the choice to say "no" to one more invitation so you can say "yes" to an afternoon of quiet. It is the exhale that follows a long, deep inhale.
Nordic Wisdom: Sauna as a Nervous System Reset
At Hervana, we are deeply inspired by Nordic practices that honor the rhythm of the body. One of the most powerful tools for creating internal spaciousness is the ritual of the sauna.

In the Nordic tradition, the sauna is more than just a place to get warm: it is a sanctuary for self-care and nervous system healing. For women, especially those navigating the seasons of perimenopause or chronic stress, the heat of the sauna offers a profound physiological reset.
How the Heat Heals
When you step into the warmth, your body begins a beautiful dance of regulation:
Parasympathetic Activation: The gentle heat signals to your brain that it is safe to downshift. Your heart rate may rise, but it is a rhythmic, therapeutic stress that eventually triggers a deep "rest-and-digest" state.
Cortisol Reduction: The sauna helps lower cortisol: the primary stress hormone: allowing your muscles to soften and your mind to quiet.
A Gentle Detox: As you sweat, you aren’t just releasing physical toxins; you are letting go of the day’s emotional weight.
We recommend a simple summer ritual: Heat, Cold, Rest, Repeat. Spend 10–15 minutes in the heat, follow it with a cool rinse or a breath of fresh air, and then: most importantly: spend 20 minutes in stillness. This spaciousness between the heat and the cold is where the magic happens. It is where you learn to listen to your body’s quietest signals again.
Mindful Movement: Creating Internal Room
Often, when we feel "stuck" or "tight" in our bodies, our instinct is to push harder: to stretch further, to run faster, to "fix" the problem. But true spaciousness comes from a gentler approach.

Mindful movement is about listening rather than doing. It’s about exploring the breath-pelvic floor connection through soft, undulating shapes. It’s the cat-cow on the floor while the sun streams through the window. It’s the slow hip circles that remind your pelvis it is allowed to be soft and supported.
When we move mindfully, we create literal space within our tissues. We ease the tension in the pelvic floor, we soften the diaphragm, and we allow our internal organs to settle. This isn't just exercise; it is a conversation with your soul. If you’ve been feeling disconnected or "full to the brim," gentle movement can be the bridge back to yourself.
Sisterhood and the Power of the Circle
While spaciousness is often found in solitude, it is also nurtured in community. There is a unique kind of healing that happens when women gather: when we share our stories, our laughter, and our quiet moments.

In our seasonal gatherings and "Rooted" events, we see the transformative power of the circle. When you realize that you aren’t alone in your struggles: whether they are related to pelvic health, the transitions of motherhood, or simply the weight of being a woman in a busy world: a sense of relief washes over you.
This relief creates emotional spaciousness. It allows you to set down the burden of having to "have it all together" and simply be. In the presence of sisters, your nervous system finds a new level of safety, and your healing journey becomes a shared path rather than a solo climb.
Your Summer Sanctuary
How do you begin to cultivate this spaciousness in your own life? It starts with the concept of the Haven.
At Hervana: a name born from "Her" and "Nirvana": we have built a sanctuary designed for this very purpose. Whether you are coming to see Jodi Bremner for pelvic physiotherapy or joining us for a restorative retreat, the goal is always the same: to provide a place where you can pause, breathe, and heal naturally.

You can create your own "Hervana" at home this summer with these simple steps:
Create a Ritual: Pick one time each day to be completely unreachable. No phone, no tasks: just you and your breath.
Honor the Elements: Use water (a cool bath), air (a slow walk), and heat (a warm tea or a sauna) to ground your senses.
Listen to Your Body: If you feel a "pull" or a "tightness" in your pelvic floor or chest, don't ignore it. Breathe into it. Ask it what it needs.
Seek Support: If you feel overwhelmed or "full," reach out. Whether it’s a consultation for your pelvic health or joining a community circle, you don't have to navigate the season alone.
An Invitation to Exhale
The Summer of Spaciousness is not about doing more; it is about being more of who you already are. It is about stripping away the noise until all that is left is your own steady heartbeat and the soft rhythm of your breath.
As the sun lingers longer in the sky, we invite you to linger a little longer in your own presence. Give yourself permission to be slow. Give yourself permission to be still. Give yourself permission to take up space.
We are here, walking beside you, holding a sanctuary for whenever you are ready to come home to yourself.

This summer, give yourself permission to take up space. Your body, your breath, your peace — it all belongs to you.
